The Survival of Sarah Rose by HappyDaedalus is an epic-fantasy erotic VN following the eldest daughter of the royal Rose family. Tragedy strikes early, and Sarah's once-stable life gets thrown into a world where danger waits in every corner.
The game is a female protagonist-led story with an impactful choice system that produces radically different storylines depending on player choices, plus a meta-story that rewards exploring every available path. Multiple endings range from triumph to despair; the question isn't just whether Sarah survives but how, at what cost, and to whom.
Expect ahegao, anal sex, corruption, creampie, exhibitionism, female domination, monster encounters, multiple penetration, prostitution, rape, slave, sexual harassment, spanking and virgin-corruption arcs threaded into a kingdom-scale story where Sarah's choices echo across the realm. Built for the player who wants their consequences heavy.
Changelog
v0.70
Those of you who've followed the game for a while might be surprised at the version number, but don't worry, this is the latest and newest version of TSSR. I've simply decided to flatten/simplify the sequential version numbers.
Instead, the version # now reflects my (best attempt) at showing the total game's progress towards a full release, which right now, I feel is about 70% of the way there (lot of work left to go, though).
Content for v0.70
Version v0.70 includes a total of 62 new art pieces. These pieces are aimed at bringing the Tribes-storyline up to the quality of the rest of the game. It doesn't complete the make-over, but does get the storyline a long way there.
The rest of the Tribes-storyline will receive another update later this year, where the whole storyline is finished, as well as the remainder of the art is updated to complete the entire arc, closing out what I've called one of the medium-sized-storylines.
My goal for the Tribes-storyline has always been to explore what defeat looks like. A lot of games/stories show a short defeat screen or a few lines. In TSSR, instead, my hope was to really explore what defeat means, and let the player really explore the full scope of the consequences of their choices.
For those who have never played this storyline before; simply make the following choices:
Start > Stay with Thomas > Make all the bad decisions in preparing for the war with the Tribes.
Significant variations in the story can play out, depending on if you spare the Emmisary or not.
v0.9.9.9
This new update is aimed at expanding and resolving one of the minor-branch stories, specifically the "Hyral mountain" storyline.
This is the storyline that plays out when Sarah joins captain Belmont, but then betrays him and sides with Nick. For players familiar with the storyline, they can continue where they were, for others the path to playing that storyline goes something like:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Sleep with Belmont > Join Mercenaries > Fail training > Join Belmont > Side with Nick.
I think I'll also work on adding an easier route to get to this story in the future, but for now this is how you unlock it.
The total story comes out to around 20k words and adds about 45 new art pieces to the game.
v0.8.9.9
As promised, right on the date, the new update for TSSR! Patch 8.9.9 brings along a whole new expansion to the Warrior-storyline, and quite a chunky one at that. The update has around a 100 new cg's, about 70k words of story, branching paths, and numerous erotic encounters, and moves the plot along quite a bit.
Content for v8.9.9
The update brings in new content for the Warrior-storyline, new story and art, as well as potential erotic encounters with Kate, Samayra, Tribesmen, and another old familiar character that I can't mention here without spoilering.
How to get to the content
The new story picks up right where the Warrior-storyline ended up, so players should be able to continue from where they last stopped. It offers variations, depending on previous choices, for having relations with characters such as Kate, Samayra, Razaphel and Atilla.
The biggest chunk of the story is split into two branches that converge back on the same end-point, but can each be enjoyed for players looking to experience every option.
v0.7.9.9
So, as I mentioned in a previous post, this month's update will focus on the "Gallow's Creek" storyline. This is a mostly self-contained side-branch, one of the "small storylines" as I like to call them.
As part of my goal to bring the game closer to v1.0, it's not just wrapping up the main storylines, but it's also about wrapping up a few/most of these smaller side-branches.
This particular storyline tells the story of what happens if Sarah abandons her quest on the Old Road, and decides to live in the small rural community of Gallow's Creek.
Also important, the art for this update was made by a different artist, so while it is still an Anime-aesthetic, it will be different from the usual style. This was done intentionally to give the main artist more time to work on the next update, seeing as this storyline is less important.
As always, the eventual goal will be to re-work the entire game into one uniform style, so these pieces will be re-worked in the future, but serve as pretty decent baseline for now.
How to get to the content
In order to get to this content, you have to simply:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Refuse to join the Mercenaries > Leave Lethram > Go to Gallow's Creek when the option is offered.
v0.6.9.9
So, this update expands on and actually wraps up the Sailor-storyline, heavily featuring Captain Belmont and brings the story to a conclusion.
This update is part of my goal to try and wrap up a few of the smaller story-branches this year, while I put the finishing touches on the script for the three main storylines. The update combines some re-works on the art for the existing storyline, while also expanding the story itself at what was previously the end point. Players can now experience the full story from start to finish!
There will be another update for the storyline at a later date, but that will be to bring the entire art-work for the storyline into one single cohesive style.
How to get to the content
So, to get to the Sailor path you simple:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Sleep with the Captain (any variation should work) > Join the Mercenaries > Take the Captain's bet
This puts you on the definitive Sailor-storyline and from there you pretty much follow it as you did before, leading you all the way to the final chapter of the story!
v0.5.9.9
So, as I've mentioned before, this new release expands on the Princess-storyline. It contains both a lot of new story, a lot of new erotic encounters, with both familiar characters and new characters, while also featuring one of the more complex choice/consequence systems, compared to previous storylines.
How to get to the content
(Important, because of how updates in Renpy work, my advice is to do a quick-restart of the game to prevent errors in the variables).
The main bulk of the content can easily be reached by simply playing the Princess-storyline. This particular update picks up when Sarah leaves to visit a neighbouring Kingdom. Important; the storyline specifically takes into account: 1) If you married Varga (or did not) 2) If you've had scenes with Lily and/or Lady Carolyn These can have a big impact, not just on how scenes play out, but also just which scenes you even get to see at all, so take that into consideration when approaching the new update.
Installation
1. Extract and run.
Developer Notes
The initial release of The Survival of Sarah Rose (TSSR) covers the intro and most of what is informally called "Act 1". While it features a variety of paths, it does not cover all currently planned paths that will be available in the game.
