About this game

Black Incense by Himeros Studios is an adult RPG and VN set in modern-day London. You play as a 19-year-old university student whose ordinary life splinters after a chance encounter exposes the hidden world beneath the city - a network of occult societies, political intrigue, and forbidden desire.

Built in Ren'Py with point & click navigation, character creation at the start, and a branching narrative full of choice and consequence, the game shapes the protagonist's personality, relationships, and moral compass through every decision.

Expect 2dcg, ai cg, cheating, corruption, dating sim beats, female protagonist, group sex, handjob, interracial, lesbian, oral sex, POV, romance and stripping content threaded into an occult-London story where every secret is also a temptation.

Changelog

Latest
Season One Episode One Hotfix 2 Note: Saves may not automatically carry over for this hotfix due to certain fixes I had to make to the save/load code. This is a one time issue, future releases will have saves carried over as normal. You can manually copy your old saves into the new folder if you wish. Fixing incorrect tooltips indicating stat changes for certain prologue choices Fixing issues with audio looping Fixing issues with certain emotion overlays not being found Fixing issues with Molly's emotion overlay appearing in the wrong place when encountering the Watcher Fixing the manifestation tooltip appearing off the edge of the screen in the character stats screen Fixing issues with the save/load screen not remembering the last screen you were on Fixed issues where cryptics was sometimes referred to as analytics causing confusion in game. Fixed an issue where if you slept with Yuri and Moshe the fantasising option later in game gave the solo Yuri option instead Season One Episode One Hotfix 1 Fixed issue with the floating Molly face when leaving the Dawnfellows HQ Fixed issue with some narration appearing as the name of the narrator whilst in the backrooms of Dawnfellows HQ Added six new achievements into the game including unlockable tarot artwork Added tooltips for all achievements in game that give more of a hint on how to unlock them when locked, and explain how they were unlocked once they are unlocked Updated the music - there are now three brand new extended tracks for the prologue, S1E1, and nsfw scenes, that come in at 1hr20 minutes of new/non repeated music in total. Season One Episode One Play the first episode of Season One of Black Incense Begin Molly's descent into a strange new world Over 75,000 words of new dialogue (so 175,000 in total so far) 75 new images Prologue Hotfix The Nat first time sex scene (unlocked if Molly goes to Northgate High and is in the rebel clique) crash caused by a missing character definition has been fixed. The character log will now update from non-smoker to social smoker as intended if Molly chooses to accept a cigarette from Esme after successfully hiding the cigarettes from Mrs Poulton. The line starting "The day Josh leaves for Leeds..." now does not repeat for players who chose a Libra star sign. Tooltip boxes should now disappear once an option is selected - they were lingering on some screens before this. I have edited the archetype selection screen slightly so the player has a chance to see their stats for the three premade archetypes before any dialogue box appears asking if they are content with their choice. Changed one mismatched variable check in the Alps gap year branch where the game looked for lower class instead of working class. Molly now has both her legs (!) in the image of her and Josh in the cocktail bar. Prologue Play MC’s life through to the start of the game Over 100,000 words of dialogue Multiple branching choices Character Creation 30 unique sex scenes Over 200 pieces of unique art

FAQ
Will this game contain X kink?

I plan on this month updating this thread with a speculative list with the tags I hope to have in game one day so watch this space. To be clear this is not meant to be definitive, but it is my best possible prediction. I plan on creating at least seven seasons of Black Incense so there is no way of knowing how it will grow in the making.

The one thing I can be definitive on however is that I will not add anything to the game that infringes on Patreon's Terms of Service - including incest, hypnotism, and a few other kinks.

What release cycle are you aiming for with Black Incense?

My rough plan is one release per month. That is a rough plan - sometimes it might be five or six weeks between releases depending on life stuff. I'll always try to communicate on here and on Patreon to set expectations ahead of the next release regardless.

Why are you posting the paid Patreon version of the game for free here?

The short answer to this is that if I do not, someone else will, within minutes of me uploading it! The choice for me as a developer is not whether the latest update of the game appears here, but simply whether it is me that uploads it.

The slightly longer answer to this is that I would be far less inclined to do this, if F95zone wasn't also full of people who are genuinely passionate about and interested in adult games. Despite this being a pirate site, it is also one of the last corners of the internet that still feels like the old internet to me. Already I have found my biggest supporters here, and the community as a whole is one I think is a real positive to independent developers like myself. I enjoy engaging with this community, and by doing so, I believe that those people who really want to support the game will end up doing so, regardless of access to the latest version.

Why does the game force me into a relationship with Josh at the start? I thought you were pro-player choice!

The prologue of Black Incense was originally only going to be a few very short scenes where the player would select from a few menus some of the choices that affect character build, from socioeconomic background, to school clique, to hobbies. The game and story was always envisioned to start from Season 1 Episode 1, with Molly in London as a student, in a relationship with Josh, in a flat with Imogen, Sienna, and Joy. All that is the core starting point of the game which is key to the story I want to tell.

At a certain point early in development, I decided to turn the prologue into a full blown release told in a narrative style. There's massive amounts of choice in the prologue (in fact recently for fun I did the calculations, there are over 10.5 million possible variations of how to play it) that turn the character creation into something unique and interesting that helps you to really know Molly before the game begins. But, it does always need to end at the place where the story was set to begin.

Rest assured that from Season One Episode One onwards, no sexual preference or relationships will be forced upon the character. You will be able to play the game in whatever way you choose.

I really like the game! How can I support you further?

Thank you, even just hearing this from fans is a reward in itself.

Of course, the best way you can support the game is by subscribing to my Patreon, which allows me to pour ever more resources and time into its development.

Apart from that, spreading the word is the best thing people can do at this stage. Black Incense is still in early stages and I am a first time developer. If you did like the game, then leaving a positive review, and mentioning the game to others really does help ensure I don't get buried by the algorithm.

Is this game made with AI?

Yes - the images are all generated in an AI pipeline, although I usually end up touching them up in photoshop afterwards. Likewise I use AI to do a lot of the coding grunt work. The one thing I will never use AI for is the writing and story. I am a writer by trade, and the story at the heart of Black Incense will always be human made.

I know that the vast majority of people have no firm stance on AI one way or another - the overall quality of the game is what is important to them (and what I try to deliver on each month).

However I also know that a minority of people do not like AI in games for a variety of reasons. That is totally valid, everyone is entitled to their stance. As a game developer, all I can do is be upfront about what I use so everyone can make informed choices, which I have sought to do here.

I think the game would be even better if...

Please do write a post or message me with any suggestions! I do have a vision and won't do anything that runs counter to that, but I am always open to new ideas from fans.

I spotted a bug!

Again, please do let me know so I can release a hotfix as soon as possible. Given that the prologue alone has 10.5 million possible combinations of choices, I will never be able to playtest every path. I'll do my best with all the major ones, but if anything does sneak through, I'll look to fix it as soon as possible.
